‘No Drones’ Sign At Tal-Mixta Cave Raises Fears Of ‘Slow Privatisation’ In Iconic Spot

New concerns that the picturesque Mixta Cave in Gozo is “slowly getting privatised” after the latest sign appeared – this time, inside the cave itself.

“There’s one property owner nearby, who first put up signs everywhere, then privatised the road and closed it, and now even has the audacity to put up a sign inside the cave forever forged on the wall!” one person told Lovin Malta.

The sign emblazoned on the side of the cave, says: “drones are not allowed”.

It joins other signs warning people of using cars or motorcycles in the path leading to the cave, and other signs simply saying “private”.

Tal-Mixta cave is one of the hidden spots you find on the outskirts of the village of Nadur with sweeping views over Ramla Bay.

While the cave itself is open to the public, the area surrounding the cave is private, leading to regular tensions between the visitors, the Gozo ministry – who regularly promotes the cave as a landmark to visit – and the landowner in the vicinity.
