‘No FBI Needed’: Ex-Superintendent Praises Team Behind Sliema Double Murder Investigation

After Daniel Muka was convicted of murdering Christian Pandolfino and Ivor Maciejowski in their Sliema home, the former police superintendent who worked on the case praised the people involved in the investigation.
“What an honour. What a success. What an incredible effort. What a perfect example of teamwork,” James Grech said.
“With the deepest respect to the victims, this was one hell of an investigation.”
Grech said that when Pandolfino and Maciejowski were found murdered on 18th August 2020, one of his superiors “peed in his pants” and asked whether he required assistance from the FBI.
“My answer was a firm NO. We have what it takes. We have courage, we have resolve, and we were going to see this through,” he said.
“Just one week later, on August 25, 2020, the killer was in custody.”
Grech said that teamwork made this all possible.
“No egos, no secrets, just full transparency, constant collaboration, and one shared goal: solving this double homicide as swiftly and thoroughly as possible. I couldn’t be prouder.”
“An impeccable job by the Criminal Investigations Department, the Forensic Science Laboratory, the Special Intervention Unit, and the Sliema Police Station — with special praise for Inspector Colin Sheldon. Only words of praise for my colleagues.”
“Keep up the excellent work, boys and girls. Justice has been served.”
