Not A Joke: Comedian James Ryder Is Actually Running For MEP Election

Comedian James Ryder’s announcement that he is contesting the European Parliament election was not an April Fool’s joke.

That’s right; Ryder will be contesting the election as an independent candidate and will be expected to bring a dose of humour to the campaign.

Asked by Lovin Malta why he has thrown his hat into the ring, Ryder bluntly responded that he is contesting “because democracy allows me to”.

The Late Night Show comedian’s campaign slogans include “Ryding our way to MEP 2024” and “We’ve had worse”.

Ryder is the third person who has announced their intentions to contest the election as an independent candidate, joining Arnold Cassola and Żaren tal-Ajkla.

It now remains to be seen what Ryder will promise voters and how many people will vote for him.
