‘Not Too Late To Save Msida’: Shadow Transport Minister Endorses Green Park Proposal
Shadow Transport Minister Mark Anthony Sammut has endorsed a proposal by the Kamra tal-Periti to transform the centre of Msida into a green park and ditch the current flyover plans.
Sammut said the proposal, which envisages converting the busy junction into a 20,000-square-meter park with over 2,000 trees, is an example of how urban planning can benefit communities.
He said the proposal has several benefits – reducing carbon emissions and urban heat, prioritising public transport, adding new sport facilities near schools, merging Msida into a single town, and improving the quality of life for residents.
“As Shadow Transpot Minister, I have accepted the Kamra tal-Periti’s invitation to explore this proposal in detail,” he said.
“This is the kind of politics we must endorse and implement. If the government truly wants to listen and not act arrogantly, it must take this proposal seriously and consult with the Kamra tal-Periti. It isn’t too late to save Msida.”
