Off-Duty Police Officer Stops Hit And Run Driver In Fgura
An off-duty police officer who happened to witness a hit-and-run yesterday ended up chasing down the perpetrator down the roads of Fgura.
The incident, which happened at around 10:45am on Thursday, was triggered by a 45-year-old woman from Żurrieq being hit by a Suzuki motorcycle. The off-duty officer, who happened to be passing by, followed the driver of the motorcycle on his own bike. Despite him ordering him several times to stop, he continued to ride.
The officer managed to stop the driver, a 20-year-old youth from Isla, after chasing him down and apprehended him until further assistance arrived.
Medical assistance was provided to the injured woman who was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by an ambulance. The extent of her injuries is still pending.
Police investigations are ongoing.
