Malta’s Operational Health and Safety Authority has opened up an investigation into the tragic death of a 52-year-old construction worker in Qormi.

An investigation was opened immediately after the incident. However, OHSA is not in a position to make further comments pending investigation.

The worker, a Georgian national who lives in St Paul’s Bay, fell three storeys from a construction site he was working on. He died a few hours later after being rushed to the hospital.

The construction industry is one of the deadliest in Malta with countless fatalities and injuries reported throughout the year. Still, safety remains an issue with videos of unsafe construction sites regularly flooding social media feeds.

If you see unsafe work practices, reach out to OHSA or find some helpful tips over here.

Is enough done to prevent deaths and injuries on construction sites?
