One Third Of Maltese Residents Frustrated And Annoyed By Noisy Neighbours
Noisy neighbours and other disturbances are causing serious issues for just under one third of Malta and Gozo’s residents.
The figures, released by the National Statistics Office, come from a European study (EU-SILC) looking into living conditions and income across the continent. Around 4,000 people from across Malta and Gozo were part of the study.
31% of people said that “noise from neighbours or street” was the main problem with where they lived, while 34% said their main issue was “pollution, grime, or other environmental problems”.
An equal 10% pointed towards two different topics as their home’s main problems: that their dwelling was “too dark/did not have enough light” and “crime, violence or vandalism in the area”.
A further 6% noted that internal issues like “leaking roofs, damp walls or rot in window” was their biggest problem, while just 1% said that having “no bath or shower” was their main issue.
In Malta, around 60% of resident live in apartments or maisonettes, while 36% live in semi or fully detached homes.
