One year since the start of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, local organisation Moviment Graffitti are organising a protest in Valletta in support of Palestine.

The protest will happen on Sunday 6th October, where attendees are being asked to gather in Parliament Square, Valletta.

“It has been one year of genocide in Gaza and 76 years of relentless oppression by Israel against the Palestinian people,” Moviment Graffitti said, describing the protest an an opportunity for people to express their outrage at this injustice.

“The complicity of many Western countries in Israeli atrocities has allowed this unbearable situation to deteriorate further. Israel has now intensified its brutal aggression against the Lebanese people, who have long endured the brunt of Israel’s terror and colonial ambitions.”

“We aim to continue participating in the global movement of solidarity with the Palestinian people and all those targeted by Israeli violence and oppression,” it said.

Over the past year, more than 42,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been massacred in Gaza, while the remaining population faces starvation and disease.

In the occupied West Bank, attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians have surged, alongside escalating deadly assaults by Israeli occupation forces on villages, refugee camps, journalists, and activists.

From its inception, the state of Israel has pursued a clear project to expel Palestinians from their land to colonise it. For Palestinians, this has resulted in 76 years of occupation, apartheid, and recurring massacres.

However, it has also marked 76 years of Palestinian resistance and a global movement for the liberation of Palestine.

“We will continue to stand with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of justice and freedom,” Moviment Graffitti promised.
