Pro Malta Christiana, the group behind the ‘Rosary Rally’, reserved the right to keep holding the controversial march, insisting that it follows the “authentic teaching” of the Catholic Church.
The group issued a right of reply to Lovin Malta following a report into the Rosary Rally, which drew the ire of LGBTIQ+ activists and other members of civil society.
Its full right of reply is as follows:
“The statement issued by the Society as not a reaction to the ‘various disparaging comments” received, but rather posted with the advert published as the date of publication can show.”
“Also, this is the third rosary rally of its kind, done by the said society and Pro Malta Christiana reserve the right to keep doing it. This is all in the spirit of what Pope St. John Paul II urged Catholics to do when the first Pride March was held in Rome in 2000.”
“Besides, the Lovin Malta article also fails miserably to convey the authentic teaching of Holy Church on Homosexuality as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (2357) which states that “Under no circumstances can they be approved.”
“As for the lobby groups and politicians who have made their statements about the said rally, they have as much right to say what they want, but this will not stop others who disagree with their views from expressing them publicly and also from giving public expression to prayer and acts of reparation.”
“Of course, they might call those who disagree with their liberal agenda bigots and whatnot, after all they do believe in freedom of expression, they might even be tempted to show their tolerance by trying to prevent another prayer rally which goes against their agenda. But rest assured that other rallies will be held.”
What do you think of the rally?
