Outgoing Nationalist MP Ivan J Bartolo has come up with a six-point plan to rebuild the party.

After thanking outgoing leader Bernard Grech and European Parliament Roberta Metsola, who has decided not to contest the leadership, Bartolo said it is time for the PN to take a leading role.

“Let us be clear: doing more of the same is not moving forward. It is standing still, or worse, stepping back,” he said.

“Our Party, the Nationalist Party owes the country a rebirth of purpose. Our mission is not to exist. Our mission is to earn the right to govern.”

“How do we do that? We craft a bold plan. We act with humility and direction. We stop asking for votes out of habit and start giving people real reasons to believe.”

Bartolo came up with the following six pillars to guide a PN rebirth.

1. Internal reform – professionalise and modernise the PN’s structures and rebuild its team.

2. A focus on strategic communication, both internally and externally.

3. Form a proper shadow cabinet that will play to the skills of its individual MPs and show Malta what a future PN government could look like.

4. Start preparing for the next general election from now as a single united movement.

5. Build bridges with all segments of society as part of a long-term strategy to earn back public trust.

6. Craft a new narrative that abandons blame culture and entitlement and focuses on vision and solutions.

“Malta deserves a real choice. A prepared party. A vision-driven movement,” he said.

“It is time we stopped waiting for change and became the change. Let’s build a business like, purpose driven PN.”

“Let’s earn trust, one step at a time. Let’s eat that elephant, one bite at a time.”
