Outstanding Success For Maltese Racing Driver At Loton Park Hill Climb In The UK

Racing driver Zach Zammit scored big in the Loton Park Hill Climb in the UK this weekend. Scoring first in his class, winner of both run offs and fastest time of the day, Zammit has collected an impressive prize bag of accolades to bring home with him.
Loton park is one of the most prestigious venues for hill climbing in the UK. Loton Park Speed Hill Climb course is set in the beautiful surroundings of a deer park owned by Sir Michael Leighton, and is situated 9 miles west of Shrewsbury on the B4393 road in the village of Alberbury.
The course is 1,349 metres long with an average gradient of 1 in 25 (4%) and the steepest of 1 in 7 (14%) and is rated as one of the UK’s most demanding hills by competitors.
The Club runs a number of events though out the season, which normally runs from Easter to the end of September, including rounds of the MSA British Championship & The Midland Hill Climb Championship.
These events cater for the top drivers who run the ultimate in single-seater racing cars, together with a number of “Club” events.
Zammit is no stranger to this event as he had scored second at this competition in 2019. Now he has arrived first in his class and bagged the best time it seems that it wasn’t a one off but a sign of outstanding skill and talent.
“To think on Friday afternoon this car would not start! I caught a plane not knowing if I would race. What an unexpected result. The behind the scenes effort that goes into running this car is difficult to believe,” he wrote, modestly downplaying his success.
