A 31-year-old man from Ħal Balzan has been arrested in connection with the illegal cultivation of cannabis after police discovered over 40 cannabis plants inside a garage in Żurrieq.

Following days of investigations and surveillance, officers from the Malta Police Force raided the garage and uncovered specialised equipment used for growing cannabis, along with several other items tied to the illegal operation.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia has been informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.

The man remains under arrest and is expected to appear in court later this morning at around 11am, before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco.

Police investigations are still underway.
