Over 90 People Admitted To Mater Dei Hospital With Heat-Related Issues In July

Over 90 people were admitted to Mater Dei Hospital during the month of July while suffering from heat-related issues.
A total of 21 deaths, caused by the blistering heat, were recorded during the hottest month of the year so far.
During the month of July for 2022, a total of nine people were sent to the emergency department to have heat-related issues such as heatstroke, sunstroke, and hyperthermia treated.
Meanwhile, 94 were admitted for the same list of issues for 2023, the Health Ministry has said.
It has become very clear that the influx of heat-related deaths and admissions all occurred as the heatwave and the power cuts were ongoing on the islands. Some towns did not have electricity for as long as 10 days.
While Malta was not set to have many heatwaves this summer, the first one proved to be a very challenging one, threatening the electrical supply of the nation and causing great unrest.
A national record was even achieved during the month of July, as 42.7 degrees was the highest ever recorded temperature for the month.
It is already being forecast that the next heatwave is set to hit the islands around 15th August.
Meanwhile, on an international level, the world is being warned that we’re past the era of global warming – and are now heading into what is referred to as global boiling.
