Over 9,100 People On Mater Dei’s MRI Waiting List
There are 9,163 on the waiting list for an MRI at Mater Dei Hospital, new figures show.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body.
Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne revealed the detail following a parliamentary question from Jerome Caruana Cilia.
However, he has also revealed that Mater Dei does around 738 MRIs every single week – more than 100 every day.
Meanwhile, persons who need an urgent appointment for an MRI are able to do so in the same week.
