PA Postpones Irrestawra Darek Call For Scheduled Buildings And Residential Properties
The Planning Authority (PA) has just announced that it is temporarily postponing the call of the Irrestawra Darek Scheme for scheduled Grade one and two residential properties.
The second call was set to open next Tuesday, with the first one being open just for a minute last week after the PA said its system crashed.
“This decision was taken following an overwhelming response following the call for owners of residential properties within Urban Conservation Areas (UCAs) earlier this week,” the PA said in a statement.
“The call for scheduled Grade one and two residential properties and other similar schemes will be issued in the near future.”
The Irrestawra Darek grant scheme 2023, aimed at homeowners who want to renovate their old houses, opened earlier this week – before closing again almost immediately, buckling under the pressure of an “overwhelming” influx of applications.
Public backlash ensued, with public figures such as Adrian Delia, Arnold Cassola, Albert Buttigieg, and even influencer Taryn Mamo Cefai, speaking out against the scheme.
