A ‘peeping tom’ is on the prowl in the Sliema area after a man was spotted in the women’s public bathrooms near Exiles in Sliema.

Speaking to The Times of Malta, one resident described the shock when going to the bathroom and hearing a strange noise coming from the neighbouring stall.

“I got scared and got out of my stall and saw that it was a man. He just sat there and looked at me and I left as fast as I could,” the woman said.

Another resident wrote on social media that she discovered a man “sitting quietly in a cubicle in the ladies toilets”.

The local council has since said it is going to repair a number of cut holes found in the bathroom.

Mayor Anthony Chircop said that the issue has been flagged a number of the times to the council and police.

“Unfortunately it seems there is a man who chooses to live a vagrant lifestyle outside one particular public bathroom. We have had complaints of him hanging around there and bothering women. It is unfortunate as they don’t feel safe,” he said.

Recently, an undercover camera was found in the women’s staff bathroom at Mater Dei.
