Pelin Kaya’s boyfriend found out she was dead after he tried calling her while on his way to meet her and found her phone ringing on the pavement next to the scene of the accident.

This was revealed in court earlier today as murder suspect Jeremie Camilleri is being charged with the murder of Pelin Kaya.

While testifying in court, Inspector Kurt Zahra said that Pelin was identified by her boyfriend, who was in Malta for her birthday and had landed a few hours before.

“As he was on the way to meet her, he found first responders on site and told police that his girlfriend wasn’t picking up the phone,” Zahra said.

“When he called the phone in front of them, the mobile phone on the pavement started ringing,” he said.
