‘People Think I’m Arrogant Because I’m Built And Have Tattoos’: Meet Bastjan, Qormi’s Gentle Giant
A Maltese powerlifter with an impressive physique has explained to Lovin Malta the regular assumptions and judgments he faces due to being tattooed and muscular.
Bastjan, who has been working on his physique ever since he was just 15 years-old, said that he’s dedicated countless hours to his physique.
‘‘Sometimes people will look at me weird because I’m built and have tattoos but at the end of the day I always treat people the same way they treat me,’’ Bastjan told Lovin Malta.
The 34-year-old, whose story went viral after the social media page The People of Malta interviewed him, would also go on to explain how most people only feel intimidated by him… until they actually get to meet him.
‘‘People usually feel uncomfortable until they get to know me, then it’s okay.’’
Bastjan also explains how it’s difficult for him to find a partner because of his health-freak lifestyle.
‘‘It is pretty difficult for me to have a partner because of my lifestyle. I spend a lot of money on food and supplements.’’
He explained to Lovin Malta how he takes up to almost 6,000 calories every day in order to keep his physique in a constant bulk – indeed, he doesn’t even drink alcohol.
His goal is to push the limits even more than ever. Starting the year on a whopping 140kg – Bastjan is more than eager to push through the limits and make everyone proud.
Finally, his advice to anyone involved in the same sport is to eat more – if one doesn’t eat, no progress will be seen whatsoever.
