Photographer Captures Striking Aftermath Of Mġarr Valley Grass Fire

A powerful photo captured by Maltese photographer Sean Mallia has shown just how close the flames came to consuming everything in sight during last weekend’s fire in l-Imselliet, Mġarr.

In the image, a single untouched patch of land sits surrounded by scorched earth.

“Aftermath from last weekend’s fire l- Imselliet, Mgarr. I want to taste the wine from the patch of land that has been saved! Thank you @civilprotectionmalta for taking action!” Mallia wrote.

The grass fire broke out on Sunday, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and prompting an immediate emergency response.

Civil Protection Department officials were quick to act, managing to contain the blaze before it caused even more destruction.
