PL MEP Candidate Starts Offering Free Child-Minding Services At Her Political Events

Labour MEP candidate Claudette Abela Baldacchino has started offering free child-minding services to encourage parents of young children to attend her political rallies.
Abela Baldacchino, who served as an MEP between 2013 and 2014, told Lovin Malta that she decided to go down this route after realising how challenging it is to campaign while also raising a family.
“I didn’t have children when I contested my last election but I now have two seven-year-old twins, which poses quite a challenge for my campaign,” she said. “I am sensitive about this issue and understand the realities of parents who tell me they would like to attend my events but don’t know what to do with their children.”

Abela Baldacchino therefore decided to dig into her own pocket to hire child minders from the multidisciplinary clinic Willingness for a political event last week.
A corner was set up next to the event, where child minders organised activities with the attendees’ children. She said it proved to be a success, with the child minders taking care of around 12 children, including Abela Baldacchino’s own twins.
Independent MP Rosianne Cutajar, an old friend of Abela Baldacchino, also turned up with her own baby to endorse her campaign.

The MEP candidate now plans to make this a theme of her campaign, including at her next event in Wied iż-Żurrieq on 7th March, which Prime Minister Robert Abela is expected to address.
