PL MPs Spoiled Their Votes To Send A Silent Message, Neville Gafà Says
PL activist Neville Gafà said a number of Labour MPs went as far as to spoil their votes in the MEP and local council election so as to send a message to the current administration.
“I have spoken to a number of PL MPs, including some who I was never close to,” Gafa’, a former person of trust of Joseph Muscat, said.
“They all shared the same feeling that fear reigns within the PL, that no one ever speaks out unless they have words of praise, and that critics face threats.”
“I was particularly impressed at how a number of MPs admitted to me that they spoiled their votes because they genuinely believe that the PL has been taken over by a clique of people, that the government has embarked on the wrong path, and they wanted to send a message in silence.”
“When you hear this, it becomes easier to understand why the PL lost over 30,000 votes, with thousands of people spoiling their votes like these MPs did and thousands more not voting at all.”
“Not only has the PL lost public sympathy, it has lost the sympathy of a number of its MPs. And yet it is business as usual at the party’s headquarters.”
Gafà has been critical of the PL since the election shock earlier this month and has called for the resignations of PL CEO Randolph De Battista and strategist Alexander Balzan.
