The Planning Authority has just removed 20 illegal billboards from a number of major roads around Malta in its latest direct action.

Working closely with Transport Malta, the direct action was executed over the last two nights, removing the illegal structures.

The operation not only included the removal of billboards that had no development permission but also those that had failed to honour their obligation to renew their annual license with TM.

The authority started its operation along two major distribution roads which included Triq Aldo Moro, Triq Guiseppe Garibaldi, and Triq Diċembru Tlettax in Marsa.

Officers from the PA’s compliance and enforcement directorate coordinated the operation with the assistance of officers from the Enforcement Unit of Transport Malta.

The operation was carried out during the late evening to cause the least disruption and inconvenience to motorists frequenting the area.

The authority assured that further action will be taken over the coming days. The removal of these billboards is being carried out at the expense of the respective offenders.

The operation was carried out to ensure more safety along our road infrastructure and to guarantee a fair playing field for advertising operators.
