PN Candidate Proposes Deploying Former Soldiers Outside Schools
PN election candidate and educator George Muscat has proposed deploying former soldiers at schools in the wake of the Pembroke stabbing incident.
“What happened yesterday can repeat itself tomorrow or in the near future,” Muscat warned.
He therefore suggested that trained security officers, including former soldiers, should be deployed at schools “to observe everything and respond quickly if there is any tension or suspicion.”
He also proposed installing metal detectors at school entrances and carrying out checks on students’ bags when there is serious suspicion.
“Strong security means that problems will be nipped in the bud before the occur, and teachers, students and parents will truly be able to view school as a safe place,” Muscat said.
