PN MP Distances Herself From Brother Reportedly Arrested Over Failed Fgura Car Bomb
Nationalist MP Therese Comodini Cachia has completely disassociated herself from her brother, after MaltaToday reported that he was one of four people arrested in connection with a failed car bomb attack in Fgura last January.
The police confirmed today they had arrested four men in Qajjenza in connection with the failed car bomb. MaltaToday reported that one of these four men is Peter Paul Cachia, the eldest brother of Therese Comodini Cachia – who has been a PN MP since last June’s election and a MEP before then. The paper reported that the police raided a field in Birzebbuga that belongs to Cachia’s and Comodini Cachia’s father as part of the raid.
After she was contacted by MaltaToday for a comment, Comodini Cachia quickly moved to distance herself from her brother.
“A few minutes ago I received a phone call from a journalist telling me that my elder brother may have been arrested this morning,” she wrote on Facebook. “I am unable to verify this but think it is only correct to inform the public that I have not been in touch or in any communication with my brother for a number of years. Several people within my family and others know that I have not spoken to him for a number of years and can attest to this.
Like most families, each family has disagreements. My disagreements with my brother are of a family nature and a number of years ago led to my stopping communication with him completely.”
