PN MP: It Took Me An Hour And A Quarter To Drive From Valletta To Santa Venera

Nationalist MP Darren Carabott has voiced his frustration at the serious traffic jams that have gripped Malta in recent days.

“I have just spent, or rather wasted, an hour and a quarter in traffic to drive a grand total of 5km from Valletta to Santa Venera,” Carabott said. “Without traffic, the journey usually takes 15 minutes. Driving has become sickening. Everything happens without any planning.”

Although many people have attributed the recent heavy traffic to the Sigma conference that is taking place at the Mediterranean Maritime Hub, some have pointed out that car users are ultimately  part of the problem.

“The trip would have taken you 10-15 minutes by motorbike or bicycle – it’s useless grumbling while remaining part of the problem,” someone commented under Carabott’s post.

Meanwhile, the government is actively seeking to ban a popular alternative form of transport from Malta, with rental e-scooters set to be forced out as of March.
