Nationalist MP Paula Mifsud Bonnici has publicly apologised for physically obstructing a PBS camera from filming Prime Minister Robert Abela’s speech in Parliament last night.

“As the Opposition’s Deputy Whip, towards the end of the sitting I asked the Speaker of the House to make a point of order, but I wasn’t allowed to do so,” Mifsud Bonnici said.

“In that point of order, I was going to remark that the Prime Minister had exceeded the speaking time allocated to him and should therefore conclude his speech, as per a motion we agreed on last month.”

“After I was unjustly denied the opportunity to make my point of order, I instinctively stood up and positioned myself in front of one of the cameras in Parliament.”

“I understand that this wasn’t the best way to get my message across and I apologise for my actions out of respect to the country’s highest institution.”
