PN MP Warns Third Party Voters: ‘Only Number That Counts Is Gap Between PL And PN’
Nationalist MP Mark Anthony Sammut has sounded a warning to people who intend to vote for a third party or independent candidate this weekend.
Sammut argued that any vote for a third party candidate will only increase the gap between the two big parties and boost Prime Minister Robert Abela.
“The only number that will count on 9th June is the gap between PL and PN,” he warned.
“On 9th June, that is the number that Robert Abela will quote to either say he has the power to keep on attacking the courts, defending criminals, ruining institutions and leading a national racket, or to take the message that he needs to change direction and plant some hope.”
“If you stay at home or vote for someone else, you will allow others to choose for you and for Robert Abela to do as he pleases. Worse than that, you would be saying that you don’t make a difference between those who rob you and those who stick their necks out so you don’t get robbed.”
“And there isn’t a worse message than that to encourage them to steal even more.”
With a few days to go until the MEP election, independent candidate Arnold Cassola has emerged as a strong contender, with a Times of Malta survey ranking him as the third most popular candidate.
A lot will hinge on inherited votes, and PN electoral expert and former MP Hermann Schiavone has predicted that there is a good chance that Cassola could get elected.
