PN Temporarily Closes Ħamrun Club After Grech Refused Entry During Festa

PN’s Hamrun club was forced to close for the time being after it’s own leader, Bernard Grech, was refused entry by the barman during the village feast.

Grech was denied entry into his own party club on Hamrun’s main road during the San Gejtan morning festa on Sunday. The tense affair spiraled and left one party member, Noel Mifsud Bonnici, severely beaten and in need of surgery for defending the leader.

It is unclear who the aggressors were at this point in time, but police are investigating the case. It was alleged by Bonnici’s wife that the barman was bitter that Grech did not visit the band club in years.

The PN broke its silence over the matter with a one-line statement on Friday, saying that the club will be closed following a meeting with the administrative council. It did not give any details as to when or if the club will be reopened.

However, Bonnici’s daughter did not hold back following the alternation, saying her father became the PN’s sacrificial lamb, and is now an ex-Nationalist supporter.

“I always gave my vote to the Nationalist Party but after what happened on Sunday 13th August inside Hamrun, will say publicly that my father was the lamb of sacrifice. Who knows what would have happened to you if you had not been strong. If only someone defended you,” she wrote, posing with her father in Mater Dei hospital post-surgery.
