PN Youth President Miriana Calleja Testaferrata De Noto Resigns ‘To Focus On MEP Campaign’
Miriana Calleja Testaferrata de Noto has resigned as president of the PN’s youth wing MŻPN and has been succeeded by Thomas De Martino.
The news was broken by the PL’s newspaper Kullħadd last weekend.
After days of no communication from the party, and with Lovin Malta inquiring into the matter, Calleja Testaferrata de Noto said she decided to resign to focus on her MEP campaign.
“They were months of hard work, where I learned a lot and built lovely friendships,” she said.
“I wish this branch all the best for the future and congratulate Thomas De Martino and the rest of the team. I won’t let the Labour Party use my decision to try and damage the party and the MŻPN.”
Calleja Testaferrata de Noto was appointed MŻPN president last May for what was supposed to be a two-year term. Three months later, she was also confirmed as a PN candidate for next year’s European Parliament elections.
Her resignation follows a spate of departures within MŻPN, with four executive members – Miirko Sant, Alex Jacobsen, Maria Farrugia, and Kevin Curmi – all stepping down in recent weeks.
According to Kullħadd, this was part of a “faction war” between youth politicians loyal to PN leader Bernard Grech and those more loyal to his predecessor Adrian Delia. However, Lovin Malta cannot independently confirm this.
We have reached out to Calleja Testaferrata de Noto, De Martino and the PN to clarify what happened but neither party has responded yet.
