PN’s Religio Et Patria Could Make Way For New Motto, Adrian Delia Says

The Nationalist Party’s motto Religio et Patria (religion and the fatherland) could become a thing of the past according to PN Leader Adrian Delia.

Speaking on Saturday in an interview with Newsbook’s Sylvana Debono, Delia proposed changing the name to  Għas-Servizz Tiegħek (at your service). He explained that a change to the motto has been a topic of discussion during recent meetings of the party’s executive committee.

The party has been undergoing a process of reform over the past year. These proposals have included changes to how the party elects its leader and deputy leaders.

A change to the motto will need the approval of party councillors before coming into force.

The PN leadership changed earlier this year with party stalwarts Francis Zammit Dimech, and Censu Galea promoted to the roles of Secretary-General and General Council President respectively.

Delia is still the party’s leader. However, continuing poor performances in surveys still raise questions as to whether he should lead the PN in the next election.
