PN’s Robert Arrigo Dies Aged 67
Robert Arrigo, the former Deputy Leader of the Nationalist Party, has passed away at the age of 67.
He’s been undergoing several sessions of chemotherapy recently as he battled cancer, with politicians from all sides of the political spectrum offering their support to him during the difficult time.
Arrigo spent nearly five years as PN’s Deputy Leader.
PN Leader Bernard Grech said “we lost one of our own”, thanking him for the sacrifices and hard work he put into building the PN as it faced major challenges.
Prime Minister Robert Abela praised Arrigo for the work he had done in a number of sectors, from sports to politics and across society.
“There’s no doubt Parliament will feel his loss,” Abela said.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola described Arrigo as a steadfast rock who was always there for her.
“Robert was there in 2004 when I organised my first activity. I was just 25,” she recounted.
“From him, I learnt that you should never lose heart. Even when things seem difficult, there’s always a solution.”
