Police Arrest Italian Man Under European Arrest Warrant In Mosta

The Maltese Police Force have successfully arrested an Italian citizen who was under a European Arrest Warrant.

The 50-year-old man is wanted by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Brindisi.

The operation was carried out earlier this morning after weeks of investigations. It was found the man was living in Mosta and police surrounded the residence where he was living and arrested him.

This morning’s operation was carried out in collaboration with the Italian police.

Italian authorities had issued an arrest warrant against the Italian on 24th January, 2022 to serve a prison sentence.

The man is expected to be brought to court today before Magistrate Giannella Camilleri Busuttil to start the extradition procedures to Italy.
