Overcoming the odds and pulling through some horrific injuries, Police Constable Simon Schembri has been released from hospital just under a month since a major hit-and-run incident involving an underage driver.
Colleagues, friends and supporters gathered outside the hospital to applaud his exit. A video posted by ONE shows Schembri walking out slowly, one knee still bandaged and his right arm in a sling.
Shaking hands with those gathered, Schembri gives one final wave before heading off to the car waiting to take him home.
