Police Not Ruling Out Boat Hit-And-Run In Għaxaq Diver Death Last August

Police said they are not ruling out that soldier and diver Christian Degabriele may have been struck by some form of sea-going vessel that led to his death.

Authorities are now appealing to the public for more information on this case – you can contact police confidentially on 21 224001 or 119.

On 11th August around 5.30pm, police were called to the area between Buġibba and St Paul’s Islands following a report that a 35-year-old diver from Għaxaq had not resurfaced. 

Members of the Armed Forces of Malta and the Civil Protection Department started an intensive search and rescue, including a team of divers searching underwater and via patrol boat and helicopter.

Unfortunately, his body was found in the area the next morning.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
