A police officer had to be hospitalised yesterday evening after he was hit by a car while redirecting traffic after another accident had occurred in Fgura.

The two incidents occurred at around 7pm along Żabbar Road, Fgura, police confirmed with Lovin Malta. 

During the first incident, two cars collided, with one of them damaging government property. However, no one was injured.

Police were handling the first accident when a Toyota Ractis collided with the police officer’s motorcycle, and the policeman ended up on the ground.

Photos sent to Lovin Malta from the scene show the policeman on the ground communicating with other officers. He was then transported to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Later he was certified to be suffering from slight injuries and was discharged from the hospital.
