A 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening in St. Julian’s after a number of sachets containing suspected cocaine and cannabis were found in his possession.

The arrest took place after the Police, who were on patrol in the vicinity of St. Augustine Street, noticed the man acting suspiciously as he appeared to notice their presence and attempted to evade them.

As he did so, he fled the scene, but was apprehended shortly thereafter in a nearby hotel after gaining access through a secondary door and attempting to hide inside.

He resisted the arrest, resulting in a minor scuffle with the police.

During a subsequent search carried out in a bag he was carrying, a total of 30 sachets allegedly containing cocaine, some sachets of cannabis, and a sum of cash were discovered.

He is currently under arrest while police investigations are ongoing.
