Four Members Of Organised Crime Group Arrested With Large Cocaine Stash In Maltese Police Operation

Four people forming part of an organised crime group have been arrested in a drug trafficking and money laundering operation.
In a statement, the police said they began following the group after receiving information that an alleged drug sale would take place.
Police began following a 40-year-old man from Pieta, who was driving a car, stopping the vehicle along Triq Oscar Zammit in Msida.
Upon searching the vehicle, police found 102 capsules with a substance believed to be cocaine.
The search continued at a shop owned by the same man on Triq Nicolò Isourd in Marsa where 14 other capsules were found.
The amount of alleged cocaine found amounts to just under 1.2kg, with a street value of around €95,000.
At the shop, a 21-year-old man was arrested and he was found with packages containing suspected cannabis.
At the same time of the first arrest, police descended upon a residence in Pieta and arrested two men, aged 29 and 56.
Cocaine, guns, ammunition, and other items linked to drug trafficking were found.
Beyond the drugs and guns, the police recovered around €15,000 in cash, branded clothes and a large amount of jewellery.
Magistrate Marse-Ann Farrugia is leading an inquiry. The four people are being kept at the Floriana Police Headquarters, while the investigations are still ongoing.
