A policeman confirmed today that a colleague of his had confided in him that another policeman had frequently groped her.
In court today, the policeman, whose name cannot be reported by court order, recalled how the alleged victim had told him: “That animal groped me again”.
However, in response to questions by prosecuting officer Joseph Busuttil, the policeman confirmed he didn’t investigate the alleged sexual harassment or even speak to the alleged abuser.
“She always spoke to me on a confidential basis and never said she wanted to make a report with me,” the policeman was reported as saying by MaltaToday. “I never spoke to anyone about it.”
Earlier, the alleged victim testified via video link to describe how the former policeman used to grope her from behind while at work.
The court convened today to hear the case against the 27-year-old former policeman who has been charged with raping one of his former colleagues at the Msida police station and sexually harassing another of them. Magistrate Doreen Clarke released him on bail today after three weeks in custody against a deposit of €1,000, a personal guarantee of €6,000 and an order not to speak to any witnesses or police officers who were stationed at his district.
