A 78-year-old polish diver passed away after he ran into trouble diving at Wied iż-Żurrieq earlier today. 

The incident happened at around 12pm. According to the police, Malta Red Cross members were first on the scene and assisted the diver until an ambulance arrived. The 78-year-old was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police investigations are ongoing.
