The Office of the President has confirmed that President Myriam Spiteri Debono has officially resumed her duties today, Sunday 16th November 2025, following a brief period of recovery after undergoing surgery.

On Saturday, the President’s office announced that she had been admitted to Mater Dei Hospital for a medical procedure requiring general anaesthesia. During her absence, Minister Helena Dalli temporarily served as Acting President of the Republic.

The announcement issued today confirms that President Spiteri Debono has now returned to office and resumed her constitutional responsibilities.
