After 12 Years At Prime Minister’s Side, Kurt Farrugia Appointed CEO Of Malta Enterprise

The Prime Minister’s head of communications Kurt Farrugia has been appointed CEO of Malta Enterprise.
Farrugia will officially be appointed to the role on 1st August, replacing Mario Galea, who is retiring but will stay on as an adviser.
Malta Enterprise chairperson William Wait said that Farrugia’s experience at the Office of the Prime Minister will help it build on recent successes.
“His energetic character, focus on upcoming niches and experience in the communications field will continue building on the corporations internal capacity in assisting business,” Wait said. “On the other hand, we are happy to secure Mario Galea’s services as his extensive experience will ensure a smooth transition within Malta Enterprise.”

Farrugia has been Joseph Muscat’s head of communications since 2008, helping him win ten successive elections.
“It’s going to be tough not being by your side every day as I did for the past twelve years, Joseph Muscat,” Farrugia tweeted. “Humbled to have served Malta’s best ever Prime Minsiter. Thank you Keith Schembri for being a great boss. Both my mentors, above all friends. I will keep serving my country selflessly.”

Farrugia’s deputy Matthew Carbone will replace him as the government’s head of communications, with Nigel Vella appointed as his second in command.
