An extensive events programme has just been unveiled leading up to the sixth anniversary of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination, as a crowdfund has just been launched to cover the costs.

Earlier this morning in Valletta, Repubblika President Robert Aquilina unveiled the full programme of events leading up to 16th October – the day which marks the sixth year since Daphne’s assassination.

Once again, Repubblika, #occupyjustice and Manuel Delia are organising a series of events to commemorate the anniversary of this very dark day.

“As we reiterate our call for truth and justice, this year’s events will not only honour Daphne, but will focus on that which she fought for the most – a cleaner republic,” the NGOs said.

“Although the fight goes on and may seem impossible at times, we have gained a lot of ground in the past six years. However, it is not enough; and it won’t be until full truth and justice for Daphne and her stories are achieved, until we ensure that we are free from the shackles of corruption that have enveloped our country and that ALL national institutions function as expected in a truly democratic country,” the organisers stated.

“We are calling upon you for your help and support once again, that we may continue Daphne’s work, and help achieve the goals she believed in.”

So how can you help?

“Your crowdfunding donation to Repubblika will help us to pay for all the costs incurred in the organisation, planning and implementation of the calendar of events to commemorate the 6th anniversary of Daphne’s assassination. The costs also include administration and logistical expenses and the promotion of the full programme to reach as wide an audience as possible.”

“This year, part of the funds collected will go towards a museum being launched by Fondazione Falcone in Palermo, in memory of Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino and all victims of the mafia. The funds will be invested in a room in the museum that will be dedicated to Daphne.”

“The total cost to be incurred is €20,000 and we are therefore aiming to collect these funds via this crowd-funding action.”
