A gathering to commemorate the five-month mark since the assassination of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia saw hundreds gathering in Valletta to listen to songs with a pointed message.

Organised by Occupy Justice Malta, the title was a cheeky dig at a recent event called The Prime Minister’s Playlist, where the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra played a selection of songs that are special to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

The twist? This protest blared songs chosen by the people with a message for the Prime Minister and the government.

Calling for song suggestions from the people attending, the event page was flooded with requests, from Pink Floyd’s Money to Patti Smith’s People Have The Power.

Before the concert began, protesters held a vigil in front of the law courts and lay flowers and candles by the memorial to Daphne Caruana Galizia.
