Protestors Gather Outside Parliament As PN Demonstration Kicks Off Minutes After Delia-Abela Spate
A crowd of protestors is gathering outside Parliament in Valletta as the third PN demonstration in the wake of a damning court decision begins.
The gathered crowd cheered as PN MPs and PN Leader Bernard Grech exited Parliament to join the people in the streets following a Maltese court’s landmark decision on the controversial Vitals-Steward healthcare deal.
“If you have been feeling heartbroken for a while and feel weak by yourself, you can feel strong once more together with your Maltese siblings,” Grech told a crowd earlier this week ahead of the protest.
The Vitals case has led to anger among swathes of the population, after PN MP Adrian Delia personally took on the case, the largest in financial terms in Malta’s history.
Today’s demonstration comes minutes after Parliament had to be suspended after Prime Minister Robert Abela accused Delia of lying about the court sentence.
Following the heated Parliament debate, several people, including PN MPs, took to social media to call out Abela’s behaviour in Parliament.
