A group of protestors intend to sleep at the Mosta piazza construction site tonight to demonstrate against the planned felling of 12 ficus trees.

The protest has been going on since this morning, when Moviment Graffitti activists physically stopped the construction vehicles from working and eventually devolved into a scuffle with police.

Activist Andre Callus was arrested but released shortly afterward.

Amidst an outpour of solidarity, including from politicians of all stripes, Callus urged people not to target the police for arresting them but to focus their energy on protesting the decision by the Mosta Local Council, Mosta Mayor Chris Grech and ERA to uproot the trees.

A protest will take place in front of the Mosta local council tomorrow at 6:30pm.

Will you attend the protest tomorrow?
