A 43-year-old man is battling critical injuries following an early morning traffic incident today.

The man, from Rabat, was riding his Yamaha XVS1100A towards Mosta when he collided with the pavement in Triq Burmarrad, St Paul’s Bay.

Police officers doing their rounds in the area were called to the scene before calling for medical assistance while delivering first aid. A medical team soon arrived, rushing the man to Mater Dei hospital where he was certified with serious injuries.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia has opened an inquiry into the incident while police investigations are underway.
