Self-suspended Carmen Ciantar has said she has “absolutely nothing to hide” in her official request to police to investigate allegations made against her on a Pakistani media house.

The letter, sent to Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa’, was sent this morning after allegations that Ciantar, the CEO of the Foundation for Medical Services, was bribed nearly half a million euros as part of the VGH deal. She has since suspended herself from her role.

You can read the letter in full below:

“I am making reference to the completely baseless allegations void of any trace of truthfulness being reported.”

“Because I have absolutely nothing to hide, I am formerly asking you to exercise your powers to investigate these false allegations. I assure you I am at your full disposal and ready to cooperate fully and unconditionally so the truth is revealed.”

“As you know, I have suspended myself from my public career so I can defend myself in the most correct way. I hope that this investigation is conducted and concluded in the least time possible. “

Her suspension comes after Pakistani media house Global Village Space published an article titled: Indian-Canadian Ram Tumuluri’s company accused of corrupting Malta deputy premier’s official.

The article alleged a number of things, prime among them being that Ram Tumuluri had made several undeclared payments to Ciantar.

Health Minister Chris Fearne issued his own statement on the claims, saying this was the first he had heard of them.
