‘Redikolu U Baxx’: PN Nadur Deputy Mayor Calls Out Swieqi Deputy Mayor’s Protest
PN Nadur deputy mayor Kevin Curmi has voiced his frustration at PN Swieqi deputy mayor Jordan Galea Pace’s latest protest.
“This makes no sense, you can criticise the issues – both the fraud and the MCAST issues – but here you sunk to a ridiculous and low level,” Curmi commented.
Galea Pace joined other MCAST business graduates in celebrating at the Labour Party’s headquarters today.
However, he used the occasion to stage a double protest against the Amanda Muscat Bartolo controversy and the ongoing MCAST lecturer dispute.
He brought a poster that read “€70,000 for Amanda’s legs, while MCAST lecturers and students are left with a banana” into the PL’s HQ and took a selfie with PL head of communications Norma Saliba, who was oblivious about what was on it.
He said that when she found out what was on the poster, a security official tried to grab it from him and tore it in half.
They asked the other students for his details, found out he was a PN deputy mayor, and called up a number of people, including at the Nationalist Party. Saliba also threatened him with legal action if the selfie were to be published.
In a response to Curmi’s comment, Galea Pace said that “the days of unemployment and begging for help are over”.
“The time has come to take a strong position and defend MCAST students,” he said. “Empty words may please you but they don’t please me. I want concrete action and results and you could have done the same thing for Gozitan MCAST students.”
