NGO Repubblika announced it will hold a protest tomorrow in front of the Russian Embassy in Kappara to salute Alexei Navalny and express disgust toward the manner in which he died.

Repubblika released a statement, joining people and organisations worldwide in expressing shock at the news of the death of Alexei Navalny, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s most vocal critic.

“Alexei Navalny is a hero of our time who was killed because he loved and chose to fight for his country at all costs. To Navalny, Putin took his life, but he did not manage to take his dignity,” the NGO declared in its statement.

Repubblika further stated how Navalny devoted his energy and sacrificed his life for the Russian people to achieve freedom and democracy.

The NGO called on the Maltese public to join it in a protest tomorrow, Monday, 19th February, in front of the Russian Embassy to honour Navalny and express “disgust for this heinous assassination carried out by Putin and his regime.”

Through this protest, Repubblika also aims to convey a message of support and solidarity with Navalny’s family and the Russian citizens struggling for democracy and respect for their fundamental rights.

The public is encouraged to bring pictures of Alexei Navalny, candles and flowers.
