Repubblika President Files Police Report Against Man For ‘Acid’ Comment After Joseph Muscat Protest
Repubblika President Robert Aquilina has filed a police report against a man over a Facebook comment he wrote criticising the NGO’s recent protest in front of Joseph Muscat’s office.
The comment by Johan Vella reads: “With all due respect, if a fool like him [Aquilina] had to stick that rubbish on my property, I would throw a can of acid at him. What right does he have to vandalise someone’s door and who does that trash can think he is?”
Aquilina warned that acid is one of the Mafia’s favourite weapons to fight and destroy their opposers.
“This comment is blatant incitement to hatred and violence, which is why I reported it to the police commissioner,” he said. “I expect the police to investigate it and quickly take the necessary action. I assure everyone that these threats and bullies won’t stop my friends and I from continuing our fight for truth and justice.”
Earlier this week, Aquilina staged a protest outside Muscat’s Sa Maison office in the wake of the Vitals-Steward court judgement and stuck a poster describing him as a ‘Prim Korrott’ on his front door.
Muscat responded by accusing Aquilina of inciting hatred and acting as prosecutor, judge and jury.
Aquilina has won a number of court cases over Facebook comments in the past, including against a man who said he “deserves the gallows” and another who wrote that he will “see him in his grave”.
Do you think the police should investigate such Facebook comments?
